About us

We are Ton and Margreeth and we moved from Holland to Italy with our daughter Anne Michelle. We are following a dream that we had for years. Our dream was to start a bed and breakfast in Italy, where the people are nice, the weather is good and the food is great. We both used to work in the fashion industry in the Netherlands, so we love it that Milan is only a 1,5 hour drive away from Allegro.

About the region Langhe-Roero and Monferrato

Unesco included the wine landscape of Piedmont: Langhe-Roero and Monferrato in its World Heritage List in 2014. A few years later the Lonely Planet, the well-known travel guide, named Piedmont as one of the top destinations. Excellent cuisine, beautiful landscapes and a burgeoning cultural scene were just a few statements to describe Piedmont.

What makes the area so special? It actually has everything. Beautiful landscapes where nature can take your breath away, and where you can actively walk and cycle. But also the proximity of cities such as Alba and Asti and world cities such as Milan, Genova and Turin. Picturesque villages such as Nizza Monferrato, Aqui Terme and Neive. And the beaches of Arenzano or Portofino are just one/two hour’s drive away. And of course wine! Barolo, wine of the kings, king of wines is produced near Allegro. And while we’re talking about surprises, there are no fewer than 45 restaurants in Piedmont with one or more Michelin stars. Is the area only reserved for the “rich and famous”? Absolutely not. A cappuccino costs € 1.20 almost everywhere. And for € 25.00 per person you can eat in a good restaurant.
